He’s only young, but lyrical magic and talent are quickly transforming Polo G into becoming one of the greatest rappers of all time.
Born Taurus Tremani Bartlett, in Chicago 1999, Polo G has developed a speedy reputation for his impeccable delivery, rowdy drill records and heartfelt personal tracks. He grew up in an economically poor area of Chicago and after facing deaths of friends and loved ones and a run in with the law, his view on the world turned.
Rap became an outlet for Polo G, also known as Polo Capalot, as he coped with life’s struggles. He began releasing tracks on Soundcloud and YouTube through WorldStarHipHop in 2017, slowly accumulating a following. His recognition increased to mainstream with the release of the single Finer Things in 2018, which he wrote while incarcerated. In 2019, his single Pop Out peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. These led to his debut studio album later that year, Die a Legend, which peaked at number 6 on the US Billboard 200 and went on to be certified RIAA Platinum.
The follow-up to his first album, THE GOAT peaked at number 2 on the US Billboard 200 and included ten Hot 100 charting singles with popular tracks Go Stupid, Stunna 4 Vegas and NLE Choppa. The closing song, Wishing For a Hero, flipped 2Pac’s Changes to reflect the Black Lives Matter movement as well as Polo’s upbringing and the racism he experienced living in America.
