Born Mark Sinclair in 1967 in California, Vin Diesel is an American actor and filmmaker. He made his stage debut aged seven, appearing in the children’s play Dinosaur Door, in New York’s Greenwich Village. Initially he broke into the theatre with his brother and friends to vandalise it, before being discovered by artistic director Crystal Field. She offered them roles in the upcoming show, instead of calling the police. Diesel remained involved with the theatre throughout his adolescence and studied creative writing in college, which led to screenwriting.

His first film role was a brief appearance in Awakenings in 1990. In 1995 he wrote, directed, produced and starred in the short drama film Multi-Facial which was a semi-autobiographical movie. It was selected for screening at the 1995 Cannes Festival.

Diesel continued to take on roles in the film industry, with performances in The Iron Giant, Boiler Room, Pitch Black, The Chronicles of Riddick and The Pacifier. He is well known for his action hero stardom in both The Fast and the Furious franchise and the XXX franchise. Diesel’s distinctive voice has also served in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the role of loveable Groot in the Guardians of the Galaxy series.

In 2020, Diesel announced his transition to the music industry, and released Feel Like I Do, produced by Kygo.
