Humble beginnings didn’t stop Steve Harvey from becoming one of The Original Kings of Comedy. It was a long road for the star, who managed to emerge as a successful television and radio personality loved across the world.

Steve Harvey was born in Virginia, 1957 and is an American television, presenter, comedian, actor, broadcaster, author, game show host and businessman. He had some tough years with various jobs which included being a boxer, autoworker, insurance salesman, carpet cleaner and mailman. His career began as a stand-up comic, when he began performing at the Hilarities Comedy Club in Cleveland, Ohio. Despite initial comedic success, Harvey admits being homeless for three years in the late 80’s, sleeping in his car when not performing.

Harvey’s persistence led to many great things, starting with a long hosting stint for It’s Showtime at the Apollo. He also starred in The Steve Harvey Show which ran from 1996 to 2002. He continued to perform stand-up comedy which led to greater things including a spot on the Kings of Comedy tour in 1997 – the highest grossing comedy tour in history.

The star is now recognised predominately as a host, for The Steve Harvey Morning Show, Family Feud, Celebrity Family Feud and the Miss Universe competition. He continues to venture into other fields under Steve Harvey Global, which includes his in-house production company East One Twelve.
